What do you have in you?

2 Corinthians 4:3–4 (NKJV) But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

The god of this age has blinded those who do not believe.

  • He has done this so that Christ’s victory, power, and life would not have full advantage.
  • When the gospel is unveiled and the light of the gospel shines on Christ, a marvelous transition occurs.

Watch this closely.

2 Corinthians 4:6–7 (ESV) For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

We should break this down.

  • Christ must appear to us personally through the gospel.
    • When we have an unveiled revelation of Christ, we receive a treasure inside.
    • The treasure does not precede the unveiling.
  • When we have this treasure, the surpassing power of God settles in our innermost being.

Look inside your jar of clay and see what is there.

  • Is there treasure inside?

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV84) Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

What is inside?

  • Is Jesus Christ in you?
  • Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit?

What should you do with the treasure that is inside?

John 7:38 (AMP) He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.

Acts 1:8 (ESV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

  • If Christ is inside, you must release Him to demonstrate His surpassing power.
  • You should release Him to work in your life.
  • Release Him to minister to the needs around you.
  • The Holy Spirit has been given on the inside so that you could release Him to work outside.

What do I mean?

  • God has not given this treasure to hoard and hold.
  • You are being filled so that you may demonstrate the effective working power of Christ.
    • This is not just for personal benefit.
    • It is also for the demonstration of the power of Christ to a darkened world.

On a personal level, knowing and having the witness of Christ in you should produce a successful, productive, and valuable demonstration of Christ.

    • The demonstration validates the possession.
    • The demonstration gives evidence of the power.
    • The demonstration shows the possession.
    • The proof of the Holy Spirit’s presence in you is in the demonstration of His power.
    • When the treasure is inside, the demonstration gives evidence to the transformation.

Do you pay more attention to the jar of clay than the treasure that is in it?

  • If you have the “Treasure,” you should release it to work in you and around you.
  • When we pay attention to the jar of clay, we see our weaknesses and tendencies to failure.
  • The jar of clay is exactly that, clay.
  • It is not valuable.
  • It has no power or strength.

Have you ever given reasons why you could not do something?

  • You were looking at the jar of clay.

The Treasure on the inside has power.

    • The Treasure on the inside is full of life when it is released.
  • The Holy Spirit in you has the wonder-working power of Christ’s resurrection victory.
  • The release of the Holy Spirit produces evidence.

How can you release what God has put inside of you?

  • Jesus spoke about the awesome power of the Holy Spirit.
  • He said when the Holy Spirit comes, He will cause you to be a living testimony of Christ.

Jesus referred to this same thing in His Own life.

  • In John 10:25 He said, “The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.”

John 14:10–11 (NKJV) Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

Do you know that Christ is in you?

Do you know that you have been filled with the Holy Spirit?

  • We must understand and know what is in us.
  • Does it sound strange to you that Christ is in you?
    • He has taken residence in you.
    • The Holy Spirit with all of His power, might, wisdom, and knowledge is in you.
    • Do you know that He has committed His word to you?
      • He has committed His Spirit’s power and might to you.
      • His nature is in you.
      • The victory and power of resurrection life is in you.

You have Treasure in you.

2 Corinthians 4:7 (NKJV) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

Do you see this?

  • You are just an earthen vessel.
  • The excellency of the power is not of you, but of God.
  • Christ in you is the Treasure.

Stop trying to demonstrate you and your excellence and start demonstrating Him in the excellence of His power.

  • We will fail, we are earthen vessels.
  • He cannot fail.

Think for a moment what the Lord has put in you.

  • You have Christ’s powerful word in you.
  • You have Christ’s name in you.
  • You have the Holy Spirit in you.
  • You have God’s righteousness in you.

Don’t get the wrong idea.

  • You are but an earthen vessel.
  • All the good is of Him.
  • All of the glory is of Christ.
  • All of the power comes from Him.

We must release Christ to all of our life.

  • Release Him when you are sick.
  • Release Him when you are grieving.
  • Release Him when you are broken.
  • Release Him when you are tested.
  • Mary was from a plain little village called Bethany.
  • Driven by love for her Lord, she took a flask of costly oil and recklessly poured it out on Jesus head.
  • Once broken and spilled out, the fragrance filled the room.

There is a fragrance of Christ in you.

  • It is the fragrance of life.
  • It is the fragrance of righteousness.
  • It is the fragrance of love.
  • It is the fragrance of hope, goodness and cleanliness.
  • It is a testimony of power and victory.

The world needs to hear and see a demonstration of what Christ is.

What do they see?

Does the world only see a jar of clay or do they see a stream of life flowing out of you?

    • In everything you go through, Christ must be shown.

Paul and Silas came to my mind, (Acts 16)

    • They were beaten with rods and received many stripes.
    • They had been chained to the stocks in the inner prison.
    • Their bodies were broken and bleeding.
  • Their jar of clay was not a testimony of victory and glory.
    • There was something within them that had to get out.
    • In personal adversity and pain they began singing praises to God.
    • The glory of the Lord was overflowing in them.
  • When they released the glory that was in them through praying and singing hymns to God, something mighty started happening.
    • The prisoners heard a testimony of Christ’s power and glory.
    • The earth began to shake.
    • The prison foundation was shaken and the doors were opened.
    • Everyone’s chains were loosed.

God has put something in you that needs to be released.

  • The world needs to see Christ in you.
  • You need the answers and relief that comes when Christ is glorified through your life.
  • There are some chains that need to be broken.
  • There are some prison doors that must be opened.

John 7:38 (AMP) He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.

  • I don’t want my life to be marked by all of my troubles.
  • I want Christ to be seen.
  • I want the powerful flow of the Holy Spirit to radiate and flow.
